Youth Project Launches

Having been largely dormant over the summer months, the Youth Group at St Francis has opened again. This time under the management of Worth Unlimted, a Christian Youth Work Agency. The work has taken off this term with the new workers, with between 20 and 30 young people on site in the Younger Group. For more details on how the group is run click on the St Francis Youth Club Tab on the left.

Community Forum Re-launch

Following the Community Forum not having met for a long period, the group will be looking to start back up again in the Winter of 2009. The group has not been meeting for over a year now due to lack of a chair, but will be re-launching itself with help from Lynn Weaver and Tom Milton from St Francis. The aim is to create a new residents group. The new group will be a fresh start, and so will need a new name and a new plan. This and many other things are open to discussion as the new group starts.

The new group will start with a small amount of funding available from St Francis to help it launch. It will be made up of some of the old forum members, and some new ones, and will seek to learn from the good things of the old forum, and remove the negative things.

The most exciting thing about the group is the potential that it will bring for development. Although we are in a time of recession, there is a good deal of funding to be claimed.

Anyone is welcome to apply to join the new forum, a wide range of ages and walks of life will be wanted so if you are interested express your interest by e-mailing community@stfrancis-centre.co.uk or talking to centre staff.

There will also be a wide range of other opportunities for people to get involved, if you are interested in volunteering in any of the ways mentioned below then drop us an e-mail at enquiries@stfrancis-centre.co.uk and let us know.

- Community Fun Day organisation

St Francis Begins Building Work

As a period of decision and visioning about what the future of St Francis could look like comes to an end, building work will be begining in the next six months. There are several potential ideas that may come to pass. The coffee bar in the main hall will be being updated and made smarter and bigger. As well as that the space that was the nursery may be developed into a community space, thoughts on this are ongoing. To have you say, contact our Centre Development Worker (contact details in the contact us lists).
